What types of cold storage are there?
01 Classified by purpose
1. Productive cold storage
Refers to a place for low-temperature storage of frozen products with a large refrigeration processing capacity and a certain cold storage capacity. Generally, it is mainly built in food production areas, goods sources, fisheries, and agricultural bases.
The components of productive cold storage: cold storage, ice storage, selection room, platform, equipment room, machine room, etc.
2. Retail cold storage
Refers to the cold storage built in industrial and mining enterprises or large-scale non-staple food stores and vegetable markets in cities for temporarily storing retail food.
Analysis of the advantages of retail cold storage: the storage capacity is small, the storage period is short, and the storage temperature is adjusted according to the use requirements. In terms of storage structure, most of them adopt assembled combined cold storage.
3. Comprehensive cold storage
Comprehensive cold storage mainly refers to its powerful functionality, which integrates production and distribution functions. It can meet the storage and cold processing of large-capacity products.
02 Classified by cold storage temperature
The cold storage temperature is designed according to the physiological characteristics of the stored items (fresh and live goods, such as fruits and vegetables) or storage requirements, as follows:
High-temperature cold storage (constant temperature storage): the design temperature is 5~15°C.
Medium temperature cold storage: the design temperature is 5℃～-5℃.
Low-temperature cold storage (freezer): the design temperature is -18℃ ~ -25℃.
Ultra-low temperature cold storage (deep cold storage): The design temperature is -45℃～-60°C.
Quick freezing cold storage (quick freezing storage): The design temperature is -35℃～-40°C.
03Classified by storage items
1. Drug cold storage
Low-temperature refrigeration conditions can keep medicines from deteriorating and failing, prolong the shelf life of medicines, and meet the technical requirements of the Medical Supervision Bureau. The drug cold storage mainly stores medical drugs. This kind of cold storage also has a name called "drug cool storage".
2. Vaccine cold storage
The low-temperature refrigeration condition keeps the vaccine from deteriorating and becoming invalid, prolongs the shelf life of the drug, and meets the technical requirements of the Medical Supervision Bureau.
3. Aquatic product cold storage
The cold storage is kept low by artificial refrigeration and used for meat freezing and cold storage buildings. The design temperature of meat cold storage is generally -18 ℃. It is used for frozen storage of aquatic fish and seafood, prolongs the shelf life and taste of seafood, and meets the technical requirements of the Food Supervision Bureau.
4. Fruit cold storage
It is used for the storage and processing of fruits, inhibits the activity of microorganisms and enzymes, and prolongs the storage period of fruits and vegetables.
There are three types of fruit cold storage, fruit preservation storage, controlled atmosphere storage, and high-temperature storage. High-temperature storage is mainly used to store tropical fruits.
5. Vegetable cold storage
For the storage and processing of vegetables, it is a storage method that uses low temperatures or controls the content of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases in the warehouse to inhibit the activity of microorganisms and enzymes and prolong the storage period of vegetables.
6. Meat cold storage
The cold storage is kept at low temperatures by artificial refrigeration, which is used for meat freezing and cold storage. The design temperature of meat cold storage is generally -18 ℃.
04Classification by industry application
1. Scientific research cold storage
It refers to the cold storage used in the scientific research industry or university laboratories for scientific research and storage.
2. Agricultural cold storage
Refers to the cold storage used for cold treatment and low-temperature storage after the primary processing of agricultural products.
The main products stored in the agricultural cold storage are fruits, vegetables (fresh), frozen meat, and other agricultural products. The built cold storage can be divided into fresh storage, freezing storage, air conditioning storage, high-temperature storage, and so on according to the temperature.
3. Medicine cold storage
It refers to cold storage mainly used in the pharmaceutical industry for low-temperature storage of pharmaceutical products.
4. Logistics cold storage
Logistics cold storage is mainly used in the logistics industry, cold storage for low-temperature storage of food.
The cold storage is divided into fresh-keeping cold storage0℃～+5℃, freezing storage -15℃～-18℃
5. Industrial cold storage
It refers to the cold storage used in the low-temperature storage of industrial chemical raw materials and industrial electronic products.
The cold storages used in the industry include chemical explosion-proof cold storage (chemical enterprises), low-temperature cold storage of electronic components (electronic enterprises), etc. The construction standards of this kind of cold storage are relatively high, and the explosion-proof mark must be IICT4 grade.
6. Catering cold storage
It refers to the cold storage used in the catering industry to store catering raw materials at low temperatures. The main items stored in the catering cold storage are seafood (fresh or frozen), fruits and vegetables, meat, poultry eggs, and other ingredients, and the storage temperature is determined according to the physiological characteristics of the ingredients.
